The Reverend Nichole L. Edness, a native of Bermuda and the youngest of four children, completed her formative training in the public schools of New York. Rev. Edness pursued her graduate degree at SUNY Old Westbury and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business & Management in 1989.
In 1988 Rev. Edness began to sense a call to ministry and at a retreat received the following words from the Lord, “I have called you to preach, teach, minister, and missions.” In response to God’s call she began to seek to fulfill the educational requirements for not only the office of deacon, being ordained in 1994, but also of elder. In 1999 she completed her graduate work at Colgate Rochester Divinity School receiving a Master of Divinity Degree and was ordained as an elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church in the same year.
She currently serves as the Minister of Membership Nurture at The Greater Allen Cathedral of NY where Rev. Dr. Floyd Flake is the Pastor and the Rev. Dr. Elaine Flake is the Co-Pastor. In this position she fulfills several roles including Minister of Bereavement, Pastoral Care, and Coordinator of Sick and Shut-in Visitation as well as the duties of teacher, preacher and worship leader.
In addition, Rev. Edness on several occasions has lead G.A.C. mission teams to Iris Ministries, an orphanage of more than 350 children in Maputo, Mozambique.
Rev. Edness is the mother of one son, Nicholas Alexander Edness.
When asked on what spiritual principle her moral courage and vision for ministry are founded she will reply, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”
